The Swedish Red Cross University collaborates with higher education institutions and hospitals in several different countries around the world.

Collaborations within the Erasmus+ framework

Erasmus + is a collaboration between colleges and universities in Europe. Within the programme, students and staff at the Swedish Red Cross University can study and serve at a higher education institution in another European country through the programme. We also welcome students and staff from our Erasmus+ partners to come to our university.

The Swedish Red Cross University has agreements with several European universities.

Clinical placement and studies abroad

Outside Europe, the Swedish Red Cross University has agreements with universities in Tanzania, Colombia, and Japan. Within the Erasmus+ programme we have agreements with partner universities in Norway, Denmark, United Kingdom, France, Portugal and Spain.

Our international collaborations allow for the nursing programme students to apply for studies abroad both for theoretical courses and work-based education.

The Swedish Red Cross University has a long-standing collaboration with Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo) in Moshi, Tanzania.

In Tanzania, we also collaborate with Kolandoto’s Hospital, founded in 1913 and run by the organization “Africa Inland Church Tanzania”. This is a church community that runs several care facilities and field activities.

Machame Hospital, a mission hospital belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, is another partner in Tanzania. German missionaries started Machame Hospital in the late 19th century.

Japan

In Japan, we have a partnership with the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing (JRCCN). The College trains nurses and other care staff at both bachelor's and master's level.

Colombia

The Swedish Red Cross University also collaborates with Universidad del Magdalena. Here, nursing students have the opportunity to study in the coastal city of Santa Marta in Colombia.

We also offer exchanges in several countries and partner universities in Europe within the European exchange program's framework Erasmus+.

The Florence Network

Established in 1995, Florence Network is one of Europe’s oldest nursing and midwifery networks. The Swedish Red Cross University has been a member of the Florence Network since the beginning. Our university was also the initiator of its name.

Today, the network consists of 37 higher educational institutions in 18 European countries. Each country has a maximum of three universities represented. In Sweden, Halmstad University and Malmö University participate along with the Swedish Red Cross University.

The network’s objective is to connect, communicate, and collaborate to improve the nursing and midwifery professions’ image and improve the quality of European health care. For example:

  • Organise the exchange of students and teachers among Florence Network members
  • Compare curricula and improve the quality of nursing and midwifery education
  • Identifyvcommon nursing and midwifery research interests and develop research collaboration
  • Develop and organise common projects and intensive nursing and midwifery programmes
  • Participate in the implementation of the Bologna Declaration in Europe
  • Obtain accreditation for nursing and midwifery education in Europe
  • Participate in Erasmus + and other programmes
  • Finance projects and dissemination of results

The network meets once a year. Students, teachers, and sometimes principals participate in the conference and the annual meeting.

ASPHER

Röda Korsets Högskola, the Swedish Red Cross University, is a member of The Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER).

The Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) is the key independent European organisation dedicated to strengthening the role of public health by improving education and training of public health professionals for both practice and research.

SEEEPHI

The Swedish Red Cross University participates in the international collaboration Sharing European Educational Experience in Public Health for Israel (SEEEPHI), a project for capacity building in higher education funded through ERASMUS +.

The aim is to transfer knowledge and best practices from European Union universities to countries and universities outside the EU. By sharing European educational experience and knowledge, the project aims to improve professionalism and strengthen the leadership aspects of public health in Israel to meet the needs of employers and the country.
